Pepper Miller is a distinguished market researcher, author, and speaker, specializing in Black American consumer insights. In 1995, she founded The Hunter-Miller Group, a Chicago-based market research and strategic planning firm, to help organizations better understand and engage with Black American audiences.
Throughout her career, Pepper has collaborated with Fortune 500 companies and non-profits, including AARP, BET, CNN, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble, and Walgreens, to develop culturally relevant marketing strategies that resonate with Black consumers.
As an author, Pepper has penned three influential books: "What's Black About It?" co-authored with the late Herb Kemp; "Black Still Matters in Marketing"; and her latest work, "Let Me Explain Black, Again," released in April 2023. These publications are considered essential resources for understanding Black consumer behavior and cultural nuances.
Pepper's contributions have earned her numerous accolades, such as The Dr. Margaret Burroughs Legacy Award from The DuSable Museum of African American History and Culture in 2024, and the Insights Association Laureate Recognition in 2021.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Pepper is committed to mentoring young professionals and fostering inclusive marketing practices. She frequently shares her expertise through speaking engagements, workshops, and as a founding blogger for Advertising Age's Big Tent multicultural blog.
